INTRODUCTION

The history of Zaka A. Malik & Associates is almost as old as Pakistan itself. We have been in this profession since 1953.

In 1953, Mr. Zaka A. Malik returned to Pakistan after getting advanced education and training in Handwriting Identification and Document Examination from England. He had the opportunity to work with Mr. Eric C. Williams, a leading Handwriting Expert of the time.

Since then Zaka A. Malik & Associates have set new standards of excellence in the field of Document Examination, unmatched in private as well as the public sector.

In 1983, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad, while he was still pursuing his formal academic education, also started Document Examination training under his father, Mr. Zaka A. Malik.

After finishing his formal education in Pakistan in 1991, he worked for one year with his father.

In 1992, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad proceeded to USA and finished his Masters of Science Degree in 1994.

In 1995, he started Questioned Document Examination Apprenticeship with Mr. Don Lehew, a prominent Handwriting Expert of USA. He finished two-year apprenticeship with Mr. Lehew in 1997 and continued to pursue advanced training till 2000. During this period he also completed a training course from Andrew Bradley & Associates and attended several conferences, seminars and workshops across USA.

After completing his advanced training, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad became a partner and associate to Mr. Don Lehew.

During all these years, Mr. Mahmood Ahmad also kept assisting his father, Mr. Zaka A. Malik, who passed away in 2002 after contributing almost half a century to the profession. Since then Mr. Mahmood Ahmad has been dividing his time between Pakistan and USA and providing the services in Pakistan and internationally, with the same commitment and diligence, which has been the hallmark of Zaka A. Malik & Associates since its inception.

Questioned Document Examination is a branch of Forensic Sciences. Like other disciplines of Science, it has evolved over the time and new developments are continuously taking place in this field.

The two most commonly consulted areas of Document Examination in Pakistan are 'Signatures' and 'Thumb- Impressions'.

In Pakistan, unfortunately there are not many professionals in private as well as public sector who possess the comprehensive qualifications required to practice as competent Handwriting Experts and Questioned Document Examiners.

Zaka A. Malik & Associates is perhaps the only consultancy in Pakistan which not only meets, but surpasses the requirements necessary to render an authentic and credible opinion on all types of Questioned Documents and Forgeries.
